Book One
I’ve always loved picking up a photography book and I have a collection of them from some of my favourite photographers on my bookshelf. I love the fact that you have a printed image in front of you and this is so much better than looking at images on a computer screen or mobile phone in my opinion. It has long been one of my ambitions to produce a book of my own, and this week boxes were delivered by a courier and inside them was my first book – Book One.
It has taken me many months to be able to find a printer that can print to a great standard and still produce a book at an acceptable cost so I may be able to share it with you all.
Book One is a collection of carefully curated images from the start of my photographic career and contains some of my most successful work. Produced in hardback at a size of 210mm square and printed on 200GSM silk paper the book contains 80 pages and 39 black and white images.
The company I decided to go with could not have been more helpful, as putting a book together involved a lot more issues than I had previously imagined. They emailed me when I sent them the proof raising several points I was unaware of concerning things like text on the spine and the direction it should face. When we addressed all these points it went to print and things became very exciting.
It was another one of those moments you get in your photographic journey when I opened the first box lifted out the first book and looked down at the cover and, with eager anticipation, opened it to reveal the first page. I will admit this put a big smile on my face.
So I am pleased to be able to share my first book with you and it’s available from the shop on my website Gavinprest.com.
