The Artist

Let me tell you the story…

I’m a very lucky chap to have been able to express my creativity with a camera.

It was a chance meeting several years ago on Hornsea beach with a photographer who is normally based in Paris, which allowed me the opportunity to focus on a true passion.

I have always had a keen interest in photography and attending a local camera club in the ’80s and ’90s with my father gave me a good understanding of the basics. Then things changed in my life and the camera was put away.

It wasn’t until 2012 when I was serving as a volunteer as a lifeboat coxswain with Hornsea Rescue that things began to change.

We were on the beach training when a chap called Ian Holmes a visiting photographer asked if he could take some images of us.

A conversation ensued and the pictures were taken, and at that point, a spark happened within me and I knew that my photography career was about to start.

Fast forward to today and the last eight years have allowed me to realise who I am as a photographer.

The passion for being creative is as strong as ever, and the ability to communicate with strangers through a photograph is something that drives me forward.

When people see something they can associate within one of my images it is a great feeling as a creative person.

Having been influenced by some of the world’s greatest photographers and artists – Helmut Newton, Bob Carlos Clark, Marc Lagrange, and Jack Vettriano, I strive to try and be as individual as I can and stay true to myself.

My passion for black and white images and the strong stories they contain will always be my style.
